Day 5
When we finally made it home around 10:30 I was ready to
fall asleep. I cheated and only read the
bible reading for the week then was done.
I was out by 11. I only woke up once,
apparently there was a torrential rainstorm.
I sleep like a baby. Mentally I
think I?m not on edge being here. I
remember the first time, the sounds of nature, rain on metal roofs, real or
imagined insects buzzing around, bats ? It can make sleep hard to come by. I hope Nathan and Jennifer are resting
well. We all get up and for me showering
is better then the first time. Not as cold,
but still cold. We have our missionary
home morning worship which consists of the daily text, eggs, and bread with
marmalade. It is raining steadily as we
head out for service.
something from her house and as we pass her on the road she says she will take
us to the meeting for service. Good
thing she does, as it is in a home a few blocks from the hall. No one comes as it is raining and a meeting
night so I conducted the group (3 of us and
man named Fabian. Nathan demonstrates a
study, then as we volunteer to go on he asks a question and Nathan volunteers
me to give the answer. So we stay and
talk some more. Hopefully we can go and
call on him again. After preaching in
the rain we head to
laundry mat for some tea and conversation.
She has 3 sons in
attending college. She lives by herself
now and is kinda sad. But she likes
Nathans smile and positivity. After that
we are ready to do a little shopping and to see the town. We cross the foot bridge to the other side so
we can check on getting the internet at the house. We also check on an iron. We download the program to have internet by
telephone, but pass on buying an iron.
It?s wrinkled clothes for us!
It?s still raining as we shop and Nathan and I get umbrellas 2 for
$5. We buy some fruit, mangoes,
watermelon, and some others I really don?t know. Nathan was out of control! We also buy bread from a Panaderia and some
avocadoes, corn, onion, cheese. We went
grocery shopping basically. We stop to
eat and I get a fruit salad. Jennifer
won?t stop quoting things from books about foreign travel about not eating
fruit or vegatables that don?t have shells.
I ignore her and eat the fruit anyways.
We need a balance. Either they
worry too much or I don?t worry enough.
I figure the shots and pills I got in the States ought to cover me. That lasts us the afternoon until about 3
when we head home. Unpack all our
stuff. Look over some things for the
meeting and take a nap. Dinner was some
leftovers we bought before the video showing last night. Refreshed and ready for a warm meeting, we
prepare for the school and service meeting. It will be packed with people sitting on
wooden benches. We are ready!
