Day 8 Tena … Still … But it’s Beautiful!
Woke up for meeting.
Studied Watchtower. Ate an
avocado. Walked most of the way into
town. Had meeting 137 there. Small group, many gone to Lareto as they are
building a new hall there. Afterwards
Nathan dropped off a bit of laundry.
Went home changed and went to Leif and Autumns house for lunch. Spaghetti and salad. Saw a lot of animals. A few different parrots. A couple different monkeys. A deer that looks like a baby deer. And two wild pigs. They have a beautiful piece of land that they
are living on. There is an underground
cave, but we don?t have the equipment to explore it sadly. Nathan and I would totally do it if we could
but we can?t. Also visited Martin and
Natalie, who are from French speaking
went home from there and were approached by a Ecuadorian man dressed in drag
who called Nathan and I beautiful. Not
cool. Apparently for the new year they
burn mannequins that are supposed to be men they don?t like I think. Then crazy boys can dress like the widowed
woman (burnt mannequin) and request plata (money) from passersby to care for ?the
children?. It?s an excuse for the crazy
boys to dress in drag and go out in public.
After that close encounter of the queer kind we returned home. Relaxed a bit. Napped.
Then I jogged back into town about 2 or 3 miles to play soccer. We play on a basketball court with a small
soccer ball and with small goals. It is
about 6 on 6. After that I head over to
meet up with Nathan and we hang out a little before walking all the way
home. Fireworks here are mostly
dynamite. You can buy it in the market
so there are plenty of very loud explosions.
Time marches on.
