We went to our new apartment today and met with the landlady. She accepted our offer of $1,000 for the whole year. That comes out to about $83 a month. (It was supposed to be $100 a month.) So, we paid for a year and a $200 security deposit.
We also bought a washer (that is also a dryer), a fridge, and a stove/oven. We had those things delivered this morning. The fridge was too big for the stairway, so they had to put it on top of a bus and put it through our window which is on the 2nd floor! (I have pictures!) It was pretty entertaining.
We still can’t move in to the apartment yet, because it still has to be painted as part of the previous renter’s contract. I took photos of the apartment which we’ll call our “before” photos and then I’ll take pictures after we move in. We still need a bed, couch, and kitchen table and chairs. Of course, we still need lots of little stuff like shower curtains, but those are the big things we still need to buy. (Two really cool things about the apartment: we have hot water in the SINKS and the showers!!! and there is this buzzer/intercom system so when someone comes to our house and rings our bell, we pick up the phone and talk to them. If we want to let them in we just push a button and they can open the door and come on up! That is so cool! Oh and I almost forgot….two little bay windows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
On a more spiritual note, Nathan conducted the Watchtower study today, for the first time ever!!! He did really good! I was so proud of him, I couldn’t stop smiling!
Tomorrow we have our first bookstudy under our new group. I’m excited. We hope to offer our apartment when we get moved in. I love having bookstudy in a home. It feels so much more like family.
Study updates: my study for Friday didn’t study! We went at 4:00 and she wasn’t there. Her son said she went to Pillaro (the place we came from to study with her!), but should be back soon. So, we did a couple of other return visits and went back to her house three times. The third time we went back she was there, but couldn’t study because she had to go to work. I chastized her (in a nice way) for not studying and she said she had an unexpected thing come up. Anyway, she said she would study next Friday. We shall see.
Much more exciting: we started a study with the sister of a brother in our cong. this past Tuesday and invited her to the meeting this Saturday and guess what??? SHE CAME!!! I made a really big deal out of it to her and told her how happy I was to see her and how much I hoped we could study this week. She agreed. I’ll keep you posted on that.
Love you all,
Jennifer
